If you own stock in any of the cannabis companies that have a presence in Florida, you likely love the fact that Florida’s Office of Medical Marijuana Use (OMMU) publishes a weekly sales report. I’m advocating for every state that has legal cannabis sales to publish a similar weekly report because It’s an invaluable tool for investors.
Shortly after 5 pm on Fridays, the OMMU report is something celebrated by all Trulieve investors because it’s how they know Trulieve has such a dominant market share – owning 24% of the total dispensaries, but sold 52% of all the smokable flower in Florida this week.
What’s in the OMMU report?
The OMMU report provides details on newly approved dispensary locations and data on how many qualified patients (customers) there are – important when analyzing the Total Addressable Market (TAM) for Florida. More importantly for investors, the OMMU report provides data on total dispensaries and sales totals for THC, weight and low-THC (edibles). Here’s a look at yesterdays sales numbers:
You can find the most recent and archives OMMU reports here, but my suggestion is to follow Puff Daddy on Twitter because he provides valuable analysis shortly after each report. Outside of CEO Kim Rivers and her staff, I don’t know anyone that bleeds Trulieve more than him.
Other states may be reporting cannabis sales data, but I haven’t stumbled upon anything close to Florida’s OMMU. Know of other state reports? Please leave a comment so I can put together a directory. Also, consider sending this article to your state’s health department and politicians.
